Ruled diffraction grating
Jobin Yvon succeeded in making practical use of a diffraction grating, which had drawn attention as a spectroscopic element that might replace the prism, and started selling it by installing a ruling engine as well as its own spectroscopes with a built-in diffraction grating.

Appointed as an exclusive agency of Jobin Yvon in Japan, Atago Bussan Co., Ltd., which was acquired by Horiba, Ltd. in 2003, started sales of Jobin Yvon's products including diffraction gratings and spectroscopes.
